Low Carbon Heating Technician
Installing and maintaining heat pumps and other low carbon heating systems.
Overview
Found in the construction industry, Low Carbon Heating Technicians are largely responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of zero carbon central heating and hot water systems. Zero carbon heat sources may include but are not limited to Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal Collectors.
Training covers the major areas a Low Carbon Heating Technician will experience, including:
- Working with stakeholders to provide high levels of customer service.
- Retrofitting new systems to existing properties and installing low carbon heating sources to new build projects.
- Fitting low carbon heating solutions including planning, selection and sizing.
- Maintenance and servicing of systems including diagnosing faults and repair.

Apprenticeship Level: Level 2
Typical duration: 36 months
