Access to Apprenticeships
THIS GRANT IS NOW CLOSED FOR NEW APPLICATIONS
Access to Apprenticeships [A2A] provided grants to improve the opportunity for those aged 16-24 in Norfolk, to be able to start an apprenticeship with an SME.
The grant, of up to £500, helped young people to access funding or to buy digital equipment/connectivity to enable completion of online learning or ePortfolios and helped towards the cost of travel expenses or the purchasing of equipment needed to start work in a specific trade.
The grant funding was provided by 'France | Channel | England C-Care' - the project aimed to support social mobility, ensuring financial barriers to apprenticeship opportunities were removed for individuals, particularly following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Here are some examples of how the grant helped:
Travel
The grant could be used towards the cost of travel for the apprentice to their place of work and/or place of training (e.g. an annual bus or train ticket, purchase of bike or ebike).
Non-Digital Equipment
The grant could be used towards the cost of non-digital equipment for the apprentice to provide them with the tools they needed to complete their apprenticeship (e.g. scissors and clippers, chef knives, hand tools, specialist clothing -excluding PPE, which is provided by the employer).
Digital Equipment / Connectivity
The grant could be used towards the cost of digital equipment for the apprentice. This supported the apprentice to be able to effectively engage in their online learning or the work required to create their ePortfolio evidence for the apprenticeship (e.g. a laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse).
The grant could be used towards the cost of internet connectivity which supported the apprentice to be able to effectively engage in their online learning or the work required to create their ePortfolio evidence for the apprenticeship (e.g. mobile WiFi).
