Teaching and Learning Strategies

We collaborate to create a tailored program, adapting content for each apprentice's role. Training incorporates real job scenarios, ensuring contextual learning. Reviews are flexible to fit the needs of learners and managers, but occur at least monthly.

Programme Elements:

  • Off-the-Job Training (OTJ): Planned with the apprentice and manager, involving activities like job shadowing, attending meetings, and project work or research.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSB): Training aligns with qualification standards, using examples and scenarios as apprentices progress.
  • Activities which are designed to develop adaptable analytical skills based on specific qualification needs.

Delivery Method:

We use IT tools to enhance learning with visual aids and clear explanations. Apprentices research topics, lead discussions, and share feedback within cohorts. They also have 24/7 access to an e-portfolio to upload work, access materials, and contact their trainer.

The program combines on-site support with online learning through webinars, a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and self-directed study, allowing for flexible learning at each apprentice's own pace.

Functional skills are embedded and prioritized for completion within the first six months, with additional support available from a dedicated Functional Skills (FS) trainer.

When apprentices are ready for their End Point Assessment (EPA), the trainer coordinates the process, providing materials, practice tests, and mock discussions to help them prepare.
