About Us

Nova was established as a Private Training Provider in September 1992 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. We are part of the recruitment agency Staff Select Ltd. Over the years Nova has operated a number of youth and adult training programmes and also delivered employer led programmes and qualifications such as NVQ's and Apprenticeships.

Our Head Office has always remained in Willenhall Town Centre (within Walsall Local Authority). Historically we have delivered training programmes across all four Black Country Local Authorities. In 2001 we opened our first centre outside the Black Country, setting up a motor vehicle workshop in Telford.

In recent years the company has spread its wings further. Our focus has remained on supporting young people aged 14-24. At the present day Nova now operates provision from 29 locations across the local authorities of Birmingham, Cambridgeshire, Dudley, Essex, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Luton, Norfolk, Sandwell, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire. Our Apprenticeship programmes and other employer led services see us delivering education further a field. In addition our staffing has also grown significantly, in 2016 we employed around 300 staff.

Our programme delivery now includes; 16-18 Study Programmes, Traineeships and Apprenticeships, 14-16 School Provision and Apprenticeships for adults. We offer maths, English and ICT training as part of our courses and also deliver vocational training in the following; Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing, Plastering, Warehousing, Retail, Sales, Hospitality, Customer Service, Business Administration, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Motor Vehicle.

Mick Whale | Midtherm Flue Systems Training & Development Manager

Midtherm has been dealing with Nova Training for a few years now, I personally have been working with Nova since my job role changed at Midtherm in November 2022 to Development and Training Manager.

I have worked closely with both Jason and Leanne over the last year and not only have they become a training company we can rely on, but part of our training team, always available with updates and information when needed. Our apprentices have grown in confidence and knowledge over the period of the courses.

Jason Bithell, has a great personality for training, making our apprentices and our staff very comfortable when he visits the site, he is very approachable and goes above and beyond to get the support we need, I am confident if I need any assistance it's a phone call or email away, the fast reply's give me confidence that we are dealing with people that take great pride in their work.

Jason is very clear at explaining the needs to the trainees and makes sure they have a good understanding of what needs to be completed, giving them suitable praise when they have completed tasks.

Leanne Farney, joined us at Midtherm early in 2023 and fitted straight in, she has a great work ethic and jumps straight into helping the apprentices, she has a very calming manner and explains the needs to the trainees very well, she always has time at the end to update us all with the progress.

Leanne's Apprentice Kyle Powell has just finished this year's EPA with a distinction, just proving the effort Leanne has put in to support the learner.

Matthew Price, joined us to assist with functional skills, with some of our learners, obviously, this can be a trying exercise as most trainees that need this assistance also need someone who takes the time to talk them through and help them understand, Matthew is very good at relaxing the trainees down and settling them into the training ready for their assessments.
